Born and educated in the United Kingdom, John Glimmerveen has been involved with motorsport for more than forty years. This involvement started with motorcycles when he competed in Trials, Motor-Cross and eventually Road Racing–both on solo and sidecars.

He competed at all levels in a successful career that spanned eighteen years. When he retired from riding, he worked for a number of international race teams both in Europe and the United States, culminating in a period working as a race technician for Keith Huewen in Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Experience:

John has rebuilt and restored many classic bikes, both in the UK and the US. In the late ‘70s he was a motorcycle dealer in the UK, where he worked every day on machines that were later to become the modern era classics.

Education:

John completed a formal four-year apprenticeship in the UK as a fabricator/welder and obtained his City and Guilds certification in both fabrication engineering and in motorcycle engineering at the Crewe College of further education.

By John Glimmerveen:

I love to ride and work on motorcycles. Classic bikes give me the chance to do both.

Over the years, I’ve experienced the thrill of riding a Harley Davidson in America, seen firsthand the wonderful craftsmanship of the British motorcycle manufacturers, enjoyed the sheer speed and reliability of the Japanese machines, and truly admired what can only be described as works of art in the Italian sports bikes.
